An application generator (appgen) is a program that compiles application expression into an application program.

Application expression (AX) is a script that is used to describe an application program. It contains the information required for appgen to generate the program. For example, the data table structure, the appearance of the screen, metadata required for the program etc. As a result, to generate an application, user required defining different types of AX files first so that appgen will have enough information to compile them into an application program.

The goal of application generator is aim to provide user the ability to produce applications in a short time. Therefore, user can create different system prototypes for shorten the system development cycle. Furthermore, it will generate the screen, source code, and data definition source (dds) that can be used for programmers to further enchant the generated programs and create the fully functional applications.
